Who is ready for individual therapy?

You’re ready to get your hands messy

An art therapy session with Marian that addressed feelings of being a burden.
  1. Attending weekly therapy will be a priority for you because you want to build your emotional muscles

  2. You are curious about your emotions and patterns with others including people pleasing, even though the process may feel uncomfortable

  3. You desire to answer the question “What gives my life meaning?” and “What do I want to stand for?”

  4. You are itching to create and without expecting yourself to be perfect at it

Who is not ready for individual therapy?

YOU WOULD RATHER KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN

  1. You want a la carte therapy and to come whenever you feel you are in the mood for it and life isn’t busy, chaotic, and full of overwhelm

  2. It feels more comfortable to blame yourself for where you currently are and to continue to feel like a burden. You would rather “add to cart” to soothe your anxiety.

  3. You don’t have a lot of time or resources available –

    For example:

    • You want your problems resolved before you to go on that big trip in three months

    • You notice your money seems to disappear every month without knowing why, even though it feels like you should have enough

    • You just want to find a therapist to tell you exactly what to do from the start so you can get your life where you want it ASAP

  4. You don’t want to trust the professionalism and expertise your therapist has. Instead, you want an one-sided relationship with a therapist that will agree to everything you want and say, even if it is not helpful for your mental health goals
